Well, Hemp Gaia Warriors—
Here we are again, stuck in cannabis purgatory.
The Texas legislature is at a standstill after Democrats fled the state to break quorum—effectively halting progress on all bills in the current special session. While Texans are still grappling with the aftermath of devastating floods and preparing for hurricane season, the state’s political energy is being funneled into two main issues: redrawing political maps and, once again, trying to ban THC.
Yep. Another THC ban was on the table during this special session.
Now, here’s the update you need to know:
🗓️ All bills from this session will die on August 21st unless a quorum is restored.
⚖️ That includes any new attempts to push through a THC ban.
📣 And rumor has it: Governor Abbott isn’t interested in signing a ban bill—only a regulation bill. That’s something.
But let’s be honest: this rollercoaster is exhausting.
The hemp industry in Texas—our farmers, retailers, processors, educators, and customers—have had to fight tooth and nail just to survive. The constant threat of a ban, the confusion from law enforcement, the politicization of plant medicine... it’s draining. But we’re still standing.
At Hemp Gaia, we’re not backing down.
We’re setting standards. We’re educating the public. We’re helping customers feel safe and informed. We’re staying compliant—and we’re building a stronger, united future through partnerships like joinCRAFT.org, where the industry is working together to write the rules before others write them for us.
What’s next? Likely, a new special session. Hopefully, this time lawmakers will prioritize real issues—like recovery, education, infrastructure, and access to legal plant medicine.
Until then, thank you for your continued support, your love for the hemp plant, and your belief in a better, more rational cannabis policy in Texas.
Stay informed. Stay strong.
