Texas Cannabis Revolution: A Night of Advocacy, Progress, and Momentum for Change

This past weekend, the Cannabis Revolution Party in San Antonio was a powerful gathering of advocates, industry leaders, and changemakers, all coming together to push the future of cannabis forward in Texas. Hosted by Alamo Bud Company, the event was filled with energy, education, and a shared commitment to progress.

I had the honor of emceeing the event on behalf of Hemp Gaia, setting the stage for some of the most influential voices in Texas cannabis.

  • Susan Hayes, a longtime cannabis advocate and attorney, shared her insights on the legal landscape and what needs to happen for Texas to move forward.
  • Robin Goldstein, author of Can Legal Weed Win?, broke down the economics of cannabis policy and how Texas can benefit from a regulated market.
  • Dr. Mathew Brimberry, a physician with the Texas Compassionate Use Program, provided invaluable insight into the medical applications of cannabis, sharing how patients are benefiting under the current program and what improvements are still needed.
  • Attorney George Dombart, a legal expert representing clients facing cannabis-related criminal offenses, spoke about the ongoing injustices in the system and the urgent need for reform to decriminalize and expunge past convictions.

Their speeches reinforced what we already know—Texas is at a pivotal moment in shaping its cannabis future, and grassroots advocacy is more important than ever.

The Power of Advocacy: From Signatures to the Capitol

One of the most inspiring efforts of the night was led by my friend Claire Rudy, who worked tirelessly to collect signatures against SB 3—a bill that, despite its name, would ban all forms of consumable THC in Texas. Currently, certain THC products are legally available under existing state regulations, but SB 3 has the potential to drastically change things for people who use THC for wellness, medical needs, or personal choice.

SB 3 does not meaningfully expand Texas’ medical cannabis program—instead, it would tighten regulations, eliminate product access, and disrupt businesses serving patients and consumers. Claire’s efforts to gather signatures against this bill reflect the urgency of the situation—Texans must stand up, speak out, and push back against restrictive policies that would roll back access rather than support responsible regulation.

The Movement Continues in Austin

The momentum doesn’t stop here. As we take the energy from San Antonio to the Capitol on Monday, the conversation continues with key policymakers. This is where advocacy turns into action. Every conversation, every meeting, and every signature brings us closer to meaningful cannabis reform in Texas.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the Cannabis Revolution Party such a success—from the organizers to the speakers, and, most importantly, the advocates who showed up to be a part of history. Texas cannabis is growing, and we’re just getting started.
